Yano residence
An abstract artwork inspired by the furnishings of a residence, inviting visitors from the entrance to the interior.

Wood such as zelkova, cypress, and cedar are used lavishly, creating a contrast with the pure white plaster walls. This is a single-story detached house built as a villa. An artwork was required to be installed on the entrance porch.
The artwork was inspired by the materials that encase the entire building: the wood that creates a beautiful contrast with the plaster, the lattice-like fixtures, and the beige, blue, and navy color palette of the furnishings.

The entrance is an L-shaped curve, and when visitors open the entrance, they go up to the right hand side and proceed down the corridor. Taking advantage of these traffic lines, we thought of a composition for the artwork that would help visitors to move further inside, that is, to the right hand side.

Based on the lattice-like fittings, the orthogonal beauty of the architectural pillars and beams, and the color palette of the furnishings, we abstracted them and layered them in layers. The final layer was dynamically transformed to create the visual effect of a dynamic flow starting from the left side of the canvas and moving to the right. This dynamic flow draws visitors in, making it easier for them to walk to the right, where the entrance is.

The print was made on ILFORD fine art canvas using the giclee printing method, which allows for a wide range of color expression. A certificate of authenticity was enclosed with the work.
